ODM SUP Development — From Your Idea to a Market-Ready Board

No drawings yet? Our in-house engineers design the hull, structure, graphics and packaging around your brief — then build, test and mass-produce it. Prototypes in 7–12 days, production in 25–35 days after confirmed PO.

Straight answer

ODM development starts from your brief, not your drawings: hull design (length, width, rocker, volume), material structure and graphics are engineered in-house, validated by prototype samples in 7–12 days, and produced at standard volume MOQ of 90–100 units per 150 m roll batch (pilot from 20–50 units). Production runs 25–35 days after confirmed PO and deposit; custom mould tooling adds 15–20 days. CE, ISO 9001, BSCI, REACH and RoHS documentation ships with every order.

ODM Capabilities

Everything you get when the design work happens in the factory, not at your desk.

Hull Design

Length, width, thickness, rocker and volume engineered to your target riders, use cases and markets — from a blank page or from our proven platform library.

Structural Engineering

Drop-stitch density, PVC layer count and grade, stiffener placement and rail construction specified and validated for your design.

Graphics & Branding

Board deck graphics, tube branding, EVA pads and retail packaging developed by our in-house design team around your brand.

Mould Development

New hull shapes start as mould tooling designed and cut in-house — tooling adds 15–20 days to the project timeline.

Prototype Validation

A physical prototype is built, tested and sent for your review with runway trials — usually within 7–12 days.

Testing & Compliance

Air-retention, pressure-hold and seam-strength testing per unit, with CE, ISO 9001, BSCI, REACH and RoHS documentation for export.

Tooling Ownership Options

Mould ownership or buyout clauses written into the contract — your design stays yours, and tooling is kept for reorders.

From Prototype to Container

A validated ODM design moves straight to standard-volume production: 90–100+ units per 150 m roll batch, 25–35 days after confirmed PO.

What We Develop Around Your Brief

ODM means the product is designed for you from scratch or from our platform library — these are the levers your brief controls:

  • Rider profile and market — beginner, touring, racing, yoga, fishing or multi-purpose positioning
  • Board dimensions — length, width, thickness and volume matched to the target rider and use case
  • Hull character — rocker, rail profile, nose and tail shape tuned for stability or speed
  • Material structure — drop-stitch density, PVC layer count and grade, stiffeners and rail reinforcements
  • Graphics and colors — brand colors, deck art and tube branding developed in-house
  • EVA traction pad — layout, colors and logo integration across the deck
  • Accessories package — paddles, pumps, fins, leashes and bags matched to the board
  • Packaging and retail presentation — retail boxes, displays and export packing under your brand

FAQ

ODM Development Questions

How does ODM differ from OEM?+

ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) starts from your brief — our engineers develop the board structure, construction, graphics and packaging, whether from a market concept, performance target or adaptation of a proven platform. You approve the design before production. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) manufactures to your approved specification — your drawings, dimensions, materials and packaging. You own the design and IP. Both run through the same plant, QC system and export team; ODM is the fastest path to a branded board when you do not have a design yet.

Send a short brief: target riders, use cases, rough size, markets and volumes. Our engineers come back with a concept, a reference board direction and a development plan within one business day — an NDA is signed before any detailed exchange when requested.

Prototype samples ship in 7–12 days. A new hull with custom mould tooling adds 15–20 days of engineering before samples. Production runs 25–35 days after PO and deposit.

Standard volume production runs 90–100 units per 150 m drop-stitch roll batch; pilot runs start at 20–50 units on existing platforms. Small-batch co-branding starts at 5–10 units — see our MOQ & Flexible Branding Guide for the full calculation.

Your brief, design and tooling are protected by NDA, brand licensing terms and mould ownership or buyout clauses written into the contract. Tooling is kept for your brand and transferable.

Yes. Hull engineering covers all main SUP categories — all-around, touring, racing, yoga, fishing and multi-person boards — with hydrodynamic test-tank validation available for performance shapes.

CE (recreational craft directive), ISO 9001, BSCI, REACH and RoHS. Certification documents are prepared per order for your export markets, and ISO 25649 compliance applies to inflatable stand-up boards.

The ODM Process — From Brief to Scaled Production

Six controlled stages run by the same in-house team that designs, samples and scales your board — everything stays documented.

  1. 01

    Brief & Concept

1 business day · Share target riders, use cases, sizes, markets and volumes — or just an idea. · Our engineers return a concept direction, platform options and a development plan.

  2. 02

    Hull & Structure Design

Week 1–2 · Board dimensions, hull character, drop-stitch density and PVC structure engineered in-house. · Graphics, EVA deck layout and packaging concept developed around your brand.

  3. 03

    Mould & Tooling

+15–20 days (new shapes) · Custom mould tooling designed and cut for new hull shapes; existing platforms skip this stage. · Tooling ownership terms are fixed in the contract before cutting starts.

  4. 04

    Prototype & Sample

7–12 days · A physical prototype is built, tested and sent for your review — runway trials included. · Sample (1–2 units) validates shape, structure and branding before volume.

  5. 05

    Validation & Approval

In parallel · Air-retention, pressure-hold, seam-strength, load and UV checks per production line. · CE, ISO 9001, BSCI, REACH and RoHS documentation prepared for your export markets. · You approve the prototype; PO and deposit lock the production slot.

  6. 06

    Production & Delivery

25–35 days · Standard-volume batches run 90–100+ units per 150 m roll, pilot runs from 20–50 units. · Export packing, FOB/CIF/DDP shipping to 50+ countries and reorder support included.
