Compliance Guide

SUP Compliance by Market

Every target market has distinct certification, labeling and documentation requirements. This guide maps the compliance landscape for inflatable SUP boards across major markets — EU, North America, Australia and beyond — so you can specify the right scope at quotation time, not after production.

Quick answer

For EU: CE marking is mandatory for boards sold in the European Economic Area — we certify models destined for EU markets, scope confirmed per project. For USA: CPSIA and state-level VOC regulations apply. For Australia: AS/NZS 1586 compliance. All markets: ISO 9001 (factory), BSCI (social audit), REACH and RoHS (materials) are standard across our production regardless of destination. Compliance scope and costs are itemized in your quotation — no post-production surprises.

Requirements by Region

Compliance Requirements by Target Market

Certification scope is confirmed per project during the feasibility review. The following shows typical requirements by market.

European Union

CE marking mandatory. REACH (chemical safety), RoHS (restricted substances), ISO 9001 factory certification. Product-specific testing per PPE or recreational craft directive as applicable. Labeling in official language of destination country. BSCI social audit available.

United States

CPSIA compliance (consumer product safety). California Prop 65 and state-level VOC regulations for PVC and adhesive emissions. No federal CE equivalent. ASTM testing available on request. FTC labeling requirements for country-of-origin and material content.

Australia & New Zealand

AS/NZS 1586 for inflatable watercraft. Australian Consumer Law guarantees. Import documentation and conformity assessment per Australian Border Force requirements. REACH-equivalent chemical safety documentation. BSCI social audit available.

Global / Multi-Market

ISO 9001:2015 factory certification (audited annually). BSCI social compliance audit. REACH and RoHS material compliance across all production regardless of destination. Batch-level traceability and test reports available for any market. Custom certification scope confirmed per project.

The following certifications are held or available across our production. Specific certification scope for your project is confirmed during the feasibility review and itemized in your quotation.

  • ISO 9001:2015 — Factory quality management system, audited annually by accredited third party. Covers the full manufacturing process from incoming material inspection through final packaging.
  • CE marking — Applied to models destined for EU markets. Testing and documentation per applicable EU directive. Scope confirmed per project — not all models require the same CE scope.
  • BSCI — Business Social Compliance Initiative audit. Covers labor rights, workplace safety, environmental compliance and business ethics. Available for all markets.
  • REACH — EU chemical safety regulation. All PVC, adhesive and coating materials are REACH-compliant. Substance documentation and test reports available per batch.
  • RoHS — Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive. All electronic accessories (pumps with motors, LED accessories) are RoHS-compliant. Board materials are inherently compliant.

How Compliance Works in Your Order

Compliance in the Onboarding Flow

Compliance is not an add-on — it is integrated into every gate of the onboarding process.

Gate 1: Scope Confirmation

At inquiry, you specify target markets. We confirm which certifications, tests and documentation apply to your specific product and destination. Compliance scope and any associated costs are itemized in the quotation.

Gate 3: Sample Certification

Samples are produced to the confirmed compliance scope. If third-party lab testing is required (CE, CPSIA, AS/NZS), we coordinate testing through accredited laboratories. Test reports are delivered with the sample.

Gate 7: Documentation Package

Every production order ships with a compliance documentation package: certificates of conformity, test reports, batch traceability records, material safety data and labeling compliance. Documentation is market-specific.

FAQ

SUP Compliance — Frequently Asked Questions

Do all SUP boards need CE marking?+

CE marking is required only for boards sold in the European Economic Area. We certify models destined for EU markets with scope confirmed per project. Boards shipped to non-EU markets do not carry CE marking unless you specifically request it.

Yes. All PVC, adhesive and coating materials are REACH-compliant. All electronic accessories (pumps with motors, LED accessories) are RoHS-compliant. Board construction materials are inherently RoHS-compliant. Substance documentation and test reports are available per batch on request.
